Abstract

Elections have regularly played a vital role in social control ever since the PAP came to power by providing a universally accepted mechanism for converting submission into consent. The practice of voting has given the PAP its right to govern and to intervene in all aspects of people’s lives. The procedures of parliament have then confirmed the legitimacy of PAP governance.
