Abstract
The last two decades have seen an unprecedented growth of what are called voluntary NGOs in the Asian region. While voluntarism has been an age-old phenomenon, it is only in the last couple of decades that so much is being talked, written, debated and done about it, and with good reason. Modern voluntarism is significantly different from the conventional voluntarism in form, content, approach, role, and impact.
