Abstract

In the universities, both new and old, staff awarded the title of ‘Professor’ are required to provide an open lecture. This is often no easy task because not only are colleagues likely to turn up but also possibly clerical and secretarial staff as well as friends, family and the like. In my case this was certainly true and it is no easy task to give a lecture to such a diverse audience.
