Abstract
There are more than 500 different molecular structures for alcohols with the molecular formula C10H21 OH. Such structures are called isomers. Structural isomers generally have at least some differing chemical bonds. When all bonds are identical but functional groups are arranged differently in space, the molecules are called stereoisomers. The relationship between the main kinds of isomerism is shown in Fig. 15.1.
