Abstract

It was argued in Chapter 2 (pp.37–43) and Chapter 3 (pp.63–6) that in the current circumstances facing local authorities, the inter-organisational dimension is becoming increasingly important, both for local authorities themselves in achieving their objectives, and for those seeking to understand the emerging patterns of organisation and management in local government.
