Abstract
This chapter will explore how contemporary social debates about age and disability connect to health and consider what questions they raise for those engaged in health work practice. In particular, we will investigate changing notions of dependency and note how these have influenced the care and treatment of client groups, such as people with mental health problems, those with physical disabilities and with learning difficulties.
