Housing Policy since 1979: Developments and Prospects
Housing is crucial to peoples’ well-being and whilst it may appear that Britain is a well housed nation significant numbers of its citizens find themselves living in inadequate conditions or homeless. One might ask why, as we approach the twenty-first century, should significant numbers of people find themselves in this situation? Instinctively many people turn to government to solve these problems, however, increasingly government has been unwilling to take upon itself the role of housing provider and has emphasised the role of the private sector and individual responsibility.
