Part of the Practical Social Work book series (PSWS)

I hope this book has introduced the reader to a range of communication skills which underlie effective social work practice. It can only be an introduction. Skills have to be practised and developed on the basis of feedback from clients, colleagues, or, in training, from peers, tutors and video. I hope, however, that this book challenges readers to reflect on and examine their own practice, raises their awareness of their skills and weaknesses in communication and encourages them to action: to practise, improve, extend and develop their communication skills.
