Personal assistance and statutory services

Abstract

There is very little written about the experience of using health and social services, or those run by a voluntary organisation, for help with daily living activities. How do these services fit in with people’s lives? Or do service-users have to fit in with the assumptions and priorities of service providers? What kind of relationships are established with staff employed by health and social services authorities? These are the kind of questions which need to be addressed if community care policies are to make independent living possible.
