Abstract

With the democratic developments and the formation of new polidcal cultures in Hungary the questions for many women within the current political context include:

  • Have these political openings brought with them spaces for women’s activities?

  • If so, how can such activities be considered and compared in terms of ‘formal’ participation, community activities and/or feminist politics?

  • What are women’s relationships to formai and informai politics in Hungary today?

  • How are women’s activities being defined in the ‘new’ Hungary?

  • What are the possibilities for women’s cooperation and networking into the 1990s?
