Abstract

Though modernism killed the Romantic genius, its ghost still haunts the corridors of art history. In figures like Beuys, Warhol and Duchamp, the issue of the individual returns to the discourse of art. And in video, the matter returns with greater power. In this chapter I want to investigate further the relationships between art and culture through an analysis of the role of the individual.
