Abstract

Edward Bond envisaged that during his lifetime he would write a series of plays opening with The Popes Wedding and closing with The Sea. However, Bond has admitted subsequently that, having completed this dramatic cycle, he discovered there were many other plays he wanted to write (Bond letter to Coult in Hay, 179).
