Between Freedom and Persecution: Roma in Romania

  • Chapter

Abstract

By Spring 1993, about 25 pogroms have been committed since the end of the Ceausescu dictatorship, mainly during the years 1990 and 1991 and in rural areas (Reemtsma, 1992, pp. 39–51). In 1992 and the first-half of 1993 there were several further but less violent attacks.
