Abstract

The following is a transcript from a discussion which was held at the conference Japan in a Global Economy at the Stockholm School of Economics. The authors of the previous contributions in this volume addressed interesting points of agreement or disagreement, challenging some conventional views in their papers. In this free discussion, they were given an opportunity to elaborate further on some of these issues and to debate them among each other as well as with other participants. The discussion was chaired by Professor Burenstam Linder, who asked Ambassador van Agt to open the discussion.
