Abstract
In previous chapters we looked at how the control strand of personal social services work, particularly management, has become increaingly associated with men by emphasising certain qualities and skills that they are thought to possess. Such qualities are often translated into behaviour which is contradictory to the qualities thought necessary in people doing caring work. Organisations often appear polarised by these two sets of values. In this chapter we will be examining some questions raised for women about management style.
