Women’s Resistance in the Arab World and in Egypt

Abstract

The Arab peoples, including Egyptians, whether women or men, have continued to resist the forces which deprive them of their right to a human and peaceful existence. Time and again they have risen up in revolt to overthrow reactionary rulers or fought to expel foreign invaders. Over the years Egypt has remained the heart of the Arab world due to its strategic position, the size of its population and its long history of resistance against colonialism and imperialism. Egyptian and Arab women participated right from the beginning in the struggle for liberation of themselves and their countries. Sine the evolution of the patriarchal class system, women in Egypt and other Arab countries are fought against slavery and oppression.
