What is to be Done?

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Economic Issues in Health Care ((EIHC))

Abstract

The theme that has emerged in this book is that waiting lists occur in the National Health Service (NHS) in Britain not only through deficiencies in the system, but also through its design. In considering the general question of access to health care, the book has examined waiting lists not so much as an aberration of our health care system, which can be solved by ‘initiatives’, but as a consequence of the way that health care is ordered in Britain.
