Abstract

In this chapter some of the consequences of the new threshold for coercive intervention in section 31(2) are considered and examined. This involves a discussion of the problem of school refusing or truancy and the new education supervision order, delinquency after the end of the criminal care order and, for convenience at this place, also the question of secure accommodation, and the new restrictions on the local authority’s use of wardship.
