Post Keynesians versus New Keynesians on Imperfect Competition and Unemployment Equilibium

  • Chapter
The Notion of Equilibrium in the Keynesian Theory

Abstract

Post Keynesian and New Keynesian Economics (hereafter PKE and NKE) can be considered as two rival research programmes in macroeconomics, although many New Keynesians may not take PKE too seriously and many Post Keynesians would regard NKE as altogether non Keynesian.

I wish to thank Domenico Delli Gatti, Luigi Pasinetti, Giorgio Rodano, Andrea Salanti and the editor of this book for useful suggestions and criticism on an early draft of this chapter, presented with the title ‘Post Keynesians versus New Keynesians on Imperfect Competition in Macroeconomics’ at the workshop on ‘Keynesianism Today: Methodological and Substantive Issues’, University of Bergamo, May 1990.
