Abstract
The oldest books that make up the doctrinal sources of the Qabalah or Kabbah date from the second century AD — the Yetzirah, which is thought to have been written by Rabi-Akiba, and the Zohar, attributed to his disciple Rabi-Semeon-ben-Yochai. (There are, however, doubts about the authorship of the latter work, as it came to light only in the thirteenth century.1)
