Abstract

At some stage in the process of converting a design idea into ‘hardware’, decisions must be taken on the choice of material and the manufacturing route. These decisions should be taken at the earliest possible moment as there are a series of complex interactions between the three elements of materials, manufacturing and design, as illustrated in Figure 32.1
