Abstract
Among the foreign state figures whom I was able to observe closely, Franklin Delano Roosevelt left the greatest impression. In our country he deservedly enjoys the reputation of a realistic thinking, farsighted politician. One of the main streets in Yalta has been named after him. President Roosevelt occupies a prominent place in the modern history of the United States and in the chronicle of World War II. I remember him as a charming man, who reacted quickly and had a sense of humor. Even at Yalta, when his worsening health was especially noticeable, everyone present remarked that the president’s intellect remained clear, sharp, and capable of quick reaction.
