Abstract
An impressive body of literature on U.S.-China relations in World War II has been produced in the last four decades. While this literature contains many excellent studies on a variety of subjects, it also suffers from two rather conspicuous shortcomings. First, it relies heavily on English-language sources, and second, it tends to define issues and assess results from a predominantly American perspective.
