Abstract
It has become fashionable in the debate over Britain’s role in the next phase of EC integration to dismiss the concept of sovereignty as either outmoded or a theoretical abstraction that hinders discussion of the practical issues. This paper argues that this approach is misguided, and that sovereignty is central to the debate.
