Abstract

In many industries, the regulatory framework only becomes of importance when a technology has been developed and, as we shall see later, the pharmaceutical industry is subject to considerable regulation once that has been done. Moreover the first objective at the stage of development is usually that of securing appropriate rights in the products of that technology.
