Abstract

Inflation-stabilization efforts can fail in at least two ways. First, they may generate excessive recession, bankruptcy, and unemployment. Second, they may suppress inflation only temporarily, or not at all, with resurgent inflation following or even preceding relaxation of the stabilization policies.
