Abstract

In a world of plenty hunger continues to grow. That is the terrible paradox of hunger today. Food production has continually outstripped the growth of the world’s population; yet the numbers who go hungry continue to rise. Nor has the world been able to avoid the terrible crises of famines. Many countries and hundreds of millions of people have felt the ravages of hunger, and many more the insidious effects of chronic under-nourishment from inadequate diets. They suffer from lack of food security.
