Abstract
Marlowe was still at university in 1586 and played no part in the drama of the Babington conspiracy. He may, however, have already been recruited to the secret service by this time to practise against Catholics in Cambridge. Robert Poley was to become one of his associates and, as will be seen, was present when he was killed in Deptford in 1593.
