Abstract
Archimandrite Makarii (Glukharev) (1792–1847) and Father Vasily Ivanovich Verbitskii (1827/8–1890) were both missionaries in the Altai region of Siberia. Their careers span the years 1830 to 1890, a sixty-year period during which the Mission’s work flowered among the indigenous Turkic speaking inhabitants of the area and many thousands of Altaians became Christians.1
