Abstract
This chapter discusses the development of one strand of post-war legislation on women and work. Legislation about work and working conditions is extensive; laws about women and work equally proliferate. Here, I have chosen the legislation that provides special norms extending legal coverage to certain women at a particular moment of their working lives — the birth of a child.
