Abstract
The central purpose of this final chapter is to draw some overall conclusions from what has been an essentially detailed and perhaps overly descriptive analysis of recent policy statements and legislative developments in child care. All the time I have had in mind the likely significance such changes might have — for the experiences of practitioners and family members; for our understanding of changes in social policy more generally; and for debates about the nature of contemporary social regulation.
