Abstract

In Chapter 8, systems were analysed which could be reduced to an equivalent series-parallel form. However there are systems which cannot be reduced in this way. An example of such a system is shown in Figure 9.1 in which the arrows indicate how the system works; it is seen that the system is ‘up’ so long as either (a and c) or (b and d) or (b and c) are ‘up’.
