Abstract
Markov analysis can be applied when transitional rates between system states are constant (that is, independent of time). It is usual to draw a Markov (state) diagram which shows the various states which a system may enter as a result of failure or restoration of the units comprising the system together with the failure (or restoration) rates associated with the transitions.
