Abstract

It is neither possible nor necessary to give a detailed review of the farm and trade policies of each of the major industrial countries. Excellent summaries, with major emphasis on farm policies, already exist.1 While there are differences in detail, general patterns can be delineated. In any case, the detailed features of the farm policies are not of primary interest to us; our concern is with the effects of the farm policies on prices, production and trade.
