NHS Resourcing: a Financial and Economic Analysis

  • Chapter
Competition in Health Care

Part of the book series: Economic Issues in Health Care ((EIHC))

Abstract

This chapter contains an analysis, against the background of the NHS Review proposals (DoH, 1989a), of a number of key aspects of NHS resourcing, paying particular attention to the importance of labour and capital resource inputs into the NHS. Since the financing of health care provision is likely to remain a subject of continuing interest, the chapter seeks to examine several of the underlying economic factors that are likely to affect NHS financing.
