Abstract

In this chapter I will attempt to illustrate and discuss the main changes undergone by Italian television since the deregulation of broadcasting in 1975. I shall do this not so much by looking at changes in the mass media, but rather by looking at the different kinds of programmes transmitted, their format and the trends in their content.
