Abstract
The objective of UN peacekeeping operations is to contribute to the maintenance of international peace and security, which, indeed, is a primary purpose of the UN. Peacekeeping operations are not intended merely to be a guardian of the status quo, but rather, should facilitate efforts towards comprehensive settlement of the regional conflict in which they are involved.
