Abstract

We base this chapter largely on reports from the Computers in Education Project, a survey undertaken by six countries under the general guidance of the Regional Centre for Education in Science and Mathematics (RECSAM) of the South-East Asian Ministries of Education Organisation. This project, referred to below as the RECSAM survey and partly funded by the Australian Government, enabled researchers in each country to survey developments and undertake case studies. RECSAM held two seminars: at the first, the six countries reported progress to date and planned the survey (Pak and Punyapinyophol, 1987), and at the second they reported and discussed results (Pak and Punyapinyophol, 1988).
