Abstract

The orthographic projection has the property that parallel lines in three-dimensional space are projected into parallel lines on the view plane. Although they have their uses, such views do look odd! Our view of space is based upon the concept of perspective. Our brains attempt to interpret orthographic figures as if they are perspective views, making the cubes of figure 8.1, for instance, look distorted.
