Abstract
The physical world pays little attention to the explanations of scientists. Quarks and solar systems do not change because they have heard what physicists and astronomers say about how they behave.1 This is one of the differences between the social and physical sciences. Persons sometimes hear about and make use of social scientists’ explanations.
