Abstract

The hierarchical structure of the system of courts in England and Wales can be understood only if it can be seen that the Supreme Court of Judicature is central to it. Essentially, appeals lie from the inferior courts to the Supreme Court and from the Supreme Court to the House of Lords. Within the structure of the Supreme Court itself, appeals lie from the Crown Court to the Court of Appeal.
