Propaganda and Liberation
European neutral countries brought safely to harbour did not mean that the war of words was over. The MOI took over responsibility for propaganda in liberated territories once these areas were secured. In May 1945 German forces were defeated by action of the allies and local partisans in every European nation they had occupied. Having helped win the war by keeping the neutrals neutral, the MOI now set out to help win the peace by persuading liberated as well as neutral Europe to look to Britain first among the victorious great powers.
