Abstract
Group work is a tried and tested method of enhancing the ability of people to function in a variety of settings. It has been used in recent years to help sexually abused children. Often such youngsters are offered a place in a group before they show any symptoms of distress. An assumption is made that children who have been subjected to sexual abuse have had a potentially damaging experience which warrants intervention.
