Abstract
The National Organization of the World Wildlife Fund operating in the United Kingdom (WWF UK) is a not for profit organization registered as a charity. It was founded in 1961 with the object of promoting education and research on the conservation of world fauna and flora, water, soils and other natural resources. In its early years, it developed like the majority of ‘not for profit’ organizations using relatively low-paid staff who had a concern for the charity’s objectives. By 1973 gross income had risen to around £750 000 per annum and it stayed in this region for the next 5 years.
