Abstract

Richard Barnfield was born in Shropshire, and was educated at Brasenose College, Oxford, where he took his BA in 1592. He lived as a gentleman in London, where his friends were poets and playwrights, until about 1600, and then retired for the rest of his life to his manor in Staffordshire.
