Modernes Reisen

Part of the Macmillan Master Series book series

Chapters 5 and 6 have suggested places which are worth a visit when travelling in German-speaking countries. But although Germany was the first European country to build motorways, the modern road system is hard put to cope with the volume of traffic at certain times, and instead of getting to one’s destination, perhaps the traffic jam itself becomes the scene for a little socialising, as in the first passage below. The train could prove a quicker way of getting around, and certainly the Deutsche Bundesbahn are doing everything to modernise the business of ticket selling, as explained in the second passage.
