Abstract
Chapters 1–4 dealt with the important question of the division of Germany into GDR and Federal Republic. But, of course, the German language is spoken more widely than in these two German states. Switzerland and Austria are both German-speaking, and have a very pronounced identity of their own. The two passages in this chapter show aspects of these two countries which the tourist might cherish: the mountains of central Switzerland and the city of Vienna.
