Abstract

Michael Jennings is a technical representative with Precision Engineering Co. Ltd. He is returning by car from a sales visit in the South of England and is travelling through a small town in the Midlands. Michael is thinking about the good order he has arranged during his visit and allows his concentration to lapse. John Evans steps on to a pedestrian crossing and Michael, failing to see the red light, is in collision with John. John sustains serious injuries and both an ambulance and the police are called. The police threaten prosecution and John also decides to sue Michael.
