Abstract

The connection between the events in France of 1788–89 and the English Revolution of 1688 was given immediate and powerful rhetorical sanction by Richard Price (1723–91), a leading nonconformist minister of the day who, on 4 November 1789, delivered a Discourse on the Love of Our Country at the Meeting House in the OldJewry (a street in London) to the Society for Commemorating the Revolution in Great Britain.
