Abstract

During the early sixties and seventies, network analysis by computer was undertaken on mainframe computers using head office based machines or computer service bureaus. These were well-tried procedures but were found wanting because of the cumbersome input routines using punched tape. Difficulties were also experienced owing to the time lapse between the entry of data and the production of a report at site management level.
